#2: World of Warcraft (2004)

Unfortunately, there was no winner to the challenge posted yesterday. Never mind, the blog's never been about such things. Today, I'd like to be your dealer. For just $15 a month, I've got the good shit... This is the heroin or crack-cocaine of games, and that's one of the only reasons it doesn't claim the top spot. I feel it almost should-be-illegal...our children should be protected! We were a group of four guys who used to play together, and we were totally extreme. We all slept at my house until 19h00 (wake up in the gutter), quickly went downstairs to make some toast (score our drugs), then raced back to our PC's to play until 07h00 in the morning (shoot up). We did this in order to get better pings, because Telkom's ADSL offering shaped traffic during the day to help out businesses. It was a 4-month-long binge. We were addicts, plain and simple. You know that scene in Trainspotting when he's passed out on his bed with a used needle lying nex...

God wants us to be with Him...

I might as well treat this as a notepad, and I'll keep delivering notes to myself through this blog. God not only wants us to be with Him, he wants us to be OF Him. Sounds kinda goofy, but think about it! What parent would not want people to look at their child and go, "I can see that he was raised by good parents," ? Calming the storm is one of the miracles of Jesus in the Gospels, namely in Matthew 8:23-27, Mark 4:35-41, and Luke 8:22-25. ... The Gospel of Mark then states that: He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Mark 4:35-41 35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.”   36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him.   37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that i...

To the ramparts! Defend the castle!

I was quite ill the last week or so, hence updates were sporadic. Over it now, mostly. I suspect it was flu, but not the sniffles-type "flu". I want to mention that I have lived an extremely happy life this last while. In no small way has it been due to A. He makes me very happy. I'd love for him to be just as happy as I am, since he's still young and happens to be a bit neurotic about stress. But I digress... I have several immense sources of strength in my life. First and foremost, and the inspiration for this entry, my family, lover and friends. They are amazing! They truly are. So often, in the past, I've been really quick to anger, ungrateful and selfish. Not to mention, stubborn. However, they're still with me. Now's the time to give back. When something/someone threatens this source of strength, the natural instinct becomes to defend it with one's life. You know, Gandalf on The Bridge of Khazad-Dûm. This is exactly the way it should be....
