God wants us to be with Him...

I might as well treat this as a notepad, and I'll keep delivering notes to myself through this blog.

 God not only wants us to be with Him, he wants us to be OF Him.

 Sounds kinda goofy, but think about it! What parent would not want people to look at their child and go, "I can see that he was raised by good parents," ?

 I had this realization while sitting in church this past Sunday. The pastor did the tale of Jesus calming a storm.
Calming the storm is one of the miracles of Jesus in the Gospels, namely in Matthew 8:23-27, Mark 4:35-41, and Luke 8:22-25. ... The Gospel of Mark then states that: He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet!
Mark 4:35-41

35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 
36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 
37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 
38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” 
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. 
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” 
41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

What does God wants us to do in an emergency such as the one faced by Jesus and his disciples? He'd want us to remain calm and steadfast so that we can deal with the situation properly.

 Jesus understood this. Even though He was in an earthly body, He still had the presence of mind to quiet the storm.

 Don't you get it?

 He, the Son of God, was sent in order to show us how to live. God tried to do this to varying degrees of success through other means (e.g. the Ten Commandments). Finally, He sent us an example.

 I'm very happy to try my best, along with God's help, to be like Jesus.

 It's the old adage of "What Would Jesus Do?" that was commonly found on wristbands throughout my childhood.

    The truth resonates in what you're saying, the challenge which I face - and I believe many others as well - is to stand stead fast in your faith in extremely stressful periods of time, it's really hard. I tend to look for real world explanations to justify my anger and emotions to "make me feel better.. or worse" faith in the Lord and his word has to be consistent for God to be able to work in our lives through the storms that we come across, it's so easy to let the storm throw us around and loose our direction.. thanks for the reminder

      Agreed. Look, it's not easy. I do have an extremely unfair advantage over most mortals. I've heard Him. It's hard to lose faith in something so tangible. :-P

So much of life we simply take for granted. I always thought: "Well yeah, those are dice. We use them for gaming, so?"  You might wonder why there's a negro (anyone who knows me, knows I use the word in THE MOST BENIGN possible way. A term of affection; I love black culture.
